I'm at the Ferretti's as I write part of this blog. I've been helping Dustin set up his new MacBook. He got it used for a GREAT price, and I'm glad that someone other than me has switched over. I'm sure Lindsey is sitting in a chair somewhere like Dr. Claw, laughing evilly!I never understood why the bad guy in Inspector Gadget was called Dr. Claw. He's doesn't really have a claw, it's more like a glove! Shouldn't he be Dr. Glove? I guess that doesn't really strike fear into the heart of your enemies.
"Oh no, it's Dr. Glove!"
"Yeah, so? What's he gonna do, make me some Hamburger Helper?"
This morning was probably the most fun I've had in a long time with the praise-band at church. We played really well, and one woman even came up to me after the first service and told me that she really felt the Holy Spirit moving when we were playing. It was really humbling. Lindsey and I almost missed the beginning of the second service when we went upstairs to eat Panera goodies in the church loft. Libby Brosia came upstairs to do some reading and was shocked to see us. She said that we only had about a minute left before the service started--we ran down with food still in our mouths. I got up on stage with a cherry pastry in my hand.
Jon Sadowitz was also very encouraging, and said that he thinks it connects well with all the members of the church when I lead because I'm so young. It's sad to me that the idea of a young person earnestly praising God would be weird and refreshing for someone. I think my greatest experiences worshiping God have definitely been with other young people. Actually, the most recent ones have been at Christian hardcore shows. I definitely know that Jon is right, though--I don't see a lot of earnest worship from the youth at our church on Sundays. At Valley, the worship time is only 15 minutes long, and I think that young people benefit from longer times of worship and reflection. In my experience, playing longer sets for Valley youth at lock-ins or camp is when I've really seen the greatest amount of sincerity from them. I'm not saying that young people in my church or other churches don't come to meet God on Sundays, I just feel like we don't put down our defenses for long enough during a 15 minute worships set to let God break our hearts.
This weekend has been full of naps. Once again, after church, Lindsey and I took a nap. I know it's because we stay up too late when she's up for the weekend. We just want to see each other as much as we can before she heads back down to the city for the week. We woke up around 3:20pm in a frenzy, since Lindsey's train was at 3:43pm. Luckily for both of us, Lindsey went back to my house and packed up her things during the second service, so all we had to do was jump in the car and go. She JUST made it on time. God is good!
Afterward, I got a call from Dustin to come over to his parent's house and help him set up his new MacBook. It's almost the exact same one as mine, except it only has 1 gig of RAM. Mind you, I'm not computer savvy at ALL, and knowing that 2 gigs of RAM is better than one is about as knowledgeable as I get. Still, it's a totally sweet computer, and it's been really nice to hang out with the Ferretti's. They're inviting me to stay for dinner; however my mother is making Quinoa Chilli today (inspired by Lindsey), and we've got Lasagna too. So I'm going to head home and come back later to jam with Dustin, Joe, and Mike Sr.
Today's post will be short, but I'm catching up anyway. So you've gotta take what you can get!

I'm tempting the idea of picking up on Macs. I've heard it's hard to go back. ;^)
I definitely appreciate longer music times. you put it very well- you need to let down your defences, and it takes time. although now I wonder if it should take long. I guess that's a challenge to always be in an attitude of praise and worship before God.
